Alta's Blood Donors
Dayzee is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She had a broken leg when she was rescued by the Pocatello Animal Shelter in 2007. Her fracture was repaired by the veterinarians at Alta Animal Hospital, and she was adopted into her current home. Now Dayzee likes jumping on the trampoline and sleeping on the bed. Her favorite treat is watermelon. She donated blood for the first time at Alta in 2008. Dayzee is a Universal Donor. Her fairly rare blood type can be transfused safely into any dog in need!
Reidar, a Labrador Retriever, was born in April of 2007. He was adopted by his current owner several months later while he was battling a life threatening illness. Thank goodness he recovered completely! Now he loves playing Frisbee and running and hiking in the mountains. He even carries his own water and treats in a doggie backpack on long trips! Reidar began donating blood in 2009 at Alta Animal Hospital.
*Retired*
Nesseh, a Lab mix, was just shy of a year old when she was adopted from an Idaho animal shelter in 1997. She spent the next four years living in Colorado. It was there that she was discovered to have the Universal Donor blood type! She moved back to Idaho in 2001 and began her "career" as a donor at Alta Animal Hospital. Nesseh loves swimming, running in the mountains, and even pulling her owner on skis in the wintertime. Although she is still healthy and active, Nesseh is has recently been retired from donating blood due to her advancing age.
